Abstract

Student scientific research is currently a topic receiving significant attention in higher education. It is an intellectual activity that helps students develop critical thinking, analytical, and evaluative skills in a logical, scientific, and creative manner. Therefore, identifying the factors that influence students’ participation in scientific research is essential in order to propose recommendations that can attract more students to engage in this field. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting student participation in scientific research at Lac Hong University. The research applies Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) to test and develop measurement scales, followed by regression analysis to determine the level of impact each factor has on student participation in scientific research. The results show that six factors have a positive influence, listed in descending order of impact: (1) Lecturer support; (2) Encouragement from the university; (3) Student competence; (4) Reward policies; (5) Student passion for scientific research; and (6) Student free time.
