English–Vietnamese and Vietnamese–English translation is a highly complex linguistic skill that requires not only language proficiency but also contextual awareness, cultural understanding, and the ability to accurately transfer meaning. This study aims to analyze common translation errors found in the internship reports of 69 final-year English-major students at Quang Trung University. Using a qualitative content analysis approach, the research identifies four major categories of translation errors: grammatical errors, semantic errors, pragmatic errors, and transfer errors. The findings shed light on the prevalent challenges students face in academic translation and serve as a foundation for proposing practical pedagogical solutions. The study recommends integrating contextualized practice, fostering critical thinking in translation tasks, and providing systematic error correction training to improve the effectiveness of translation education at the tertiary level.
