Vietnam is one of the ten countries with the fastest aging population in the world. The proportion of elderly people in Vietnam has been continuously increasing in recent years. Typically, elderly people often have at least two chronic diseases, with diabetes (DM) accounting for a significant proportion. Elderly people with diabetes are at a higher risk of functional decline and mortality compared to other age groups if not properly managed and treated. Currently, in Ward 3, District 8, many elderly people, despite being diagnosed with diabetes, do not receive treatment. Those undergoing treatment visit different healthcare facilities, making it challenging for local healthcare authorities to manage. Therefore, our group posed the research question: What is the status of elderly people diagnosed with diabetes in Ward 3, District 8, Ho Chi Minh City? This cross-sectional descriptive study focuses on the elderly currently living in Ward 3, District 8, Ho Chi Minh City. We approached 1,953 people aged 60 and above, of whom 190 had been diagnosed with diabetes, accounting for 9.7%. Among the elderly with diabetes, 79.5% had other chronic diseases, with hypertension being the most prevalent at 66.8%.
